…in DUMBO. Three, to be exact, in one day. The first we pretty much attended, at Empire Fulton Ferry. It was hard to hear with the dinky P.A. system that looked like a boom box and trains roaring over the Manhattan Bridge, but I teared up when they kissed at the end. It was romantic.
When the wedding had finished and the bridge and groom were walking away, my friend said, “Ah, people who know what they want.” I said, “Ah, people who think they know what they want.”
As for the other two, we just caught glimpses of the bridal parties while waiting in line at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory.
I was really into the red color scheme this group had going on:
I thought they looked like they could have been the wedding scene in West Side Story, if it had one.
Saturday was a day for weddings in DUMBO; we just happened to be there. And it’s understandable. The neighborhood feels understated and romantic, and getting married against the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge and the New York skyline is such a good idea I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it. (I guess I don’t really think about getting married. But still.)

There is a wedding scene in west side story! in the dress shop!!
My friends Roxie and Marie are getting married at the Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO next June. It’s a hot spot apparently.
That’s where the first couple’s reception was! Ha. And Amy, good call. But these would be their outfits if there was a big wedding with big dance numbers.
